Now an Assistant Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, Dr. Cook is being recognized for his outstanding research on the economic impacts of climate change and air pollution, as well as his critical work addressing the credibility crisis in economic research. His contributions embody the spirit of rigorous inquiry and social relevance that define our academic community.
Dr. Cook completed his doctoral studies under the supervision of Professor Abel Brodeur—himself a recipient of the Polanyi Prize in 2020. He is the third laureate of this prestigious honour to emerge from our Department of Economics, following in the footsteps of Professors Brodeur and Roland Pongou (2013). Their collective achievements underscore the department’s legacy of shaping leading voices in economic thought.
At the Faculty of Social Sciences, we shape the society of tomorrow by nurturing critical thinking, social innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. We are more than a place of learning—we are a catalyst for human change. Dr. Cook’s success is a testament to our commitment to training researchers who not only understand the complexities of the world but actively contribute to addressing them.
Congratulations, Dr. Cook, on this well-deserved recognition!
