A special air quality statement has been issued due to the poor outdoor air quality. The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) in the Ottawa region has reached a very high risk level.
During the summer months, seasonal events, such as wildfires, can affect air quality on campus. An outdoor air quality advisory can help University community members, particularly those who work outdoors, reduce their exposure to air pollution and protect their health.
On campus, 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï is taking the following steps:
- The University will monitor the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) and when risk levels are high-to-very high (7–10+), 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï will assess the potential impact on campus activities. The University will issue appropriate advisories and guidance to help ensure the safety and well-being of all members of our University community.
- The Health, Safety and Environmental Management team is asking leaders and supervisors to communicate directly with staff who work outdoors to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Facilities continues to maintain and adjust mechanical ventilation systems accordingly.
