Guillermo Matamoros (PhD Economics, University of Ottawa, 2023) has been awarded the 2024 Joan Robinson Prize by the for the best article published by a young scholar. His winning paper, , reflects his ongoing work on inflation, income distribution, and economic development.
Guillermo Matamoros is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Economics Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He will join the department as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2025. His research focuses on inflation, income distribution, monetary policy, and economic development, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. He has received the Graduate Essay Contest Prize from the Progressive Economics Forum (Canada) in 2021 and the Jes煤s Silva Herzog Prize in Economic Research (Mexico) in 2018. Guillermo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Ottawa, as well as Master鈥檚 and Bachelor鈥檚 degrees in Economics from UNAM in Mexico.
