Dr. Stefanie Carsley is an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, Common Law Section where she researches and teaches in the areas of family law, health law and tort law. Her research focuses on Canadian law and policy responses to assisted reproduction (surrogacy, in vitro fertilization, and sperm, egg and embryo donation). She is the principal investigator for a  entitled “Surrogacy Laws in Canada: Exploring Intended Parents’ Experiences and Perspectives” and a co-investigator for a SSHRC-funded study entitled “Surrogates’ Voices: Exploring Surrogates’ Experiences and Insights”. She has received the law faculty’s Emerging Researcher Award (2022), the Greenberg Prize for Feminist Research (2023), and the Ian Kerr Award for Excellence in Teaching (2025). She is a member of 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ�’s Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics and 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ�’s Public Law Centre, and is called to the Bar in Ontario.
