When Mr. Nasir Tarafder and Mrs. Mahenur Nasir immigrated to Canada from Bangladesh, their hope was to provide a better life for their children, including access to quality education in a safe and stable environment.

When we say, “you are what you eat,” we tend to think it applies only to our physical wellbeing. Today, that saying is taking on new meaning at 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ� as we discover deeper connections between diet and psychological wellbeing.

Amidst increasing public demand for equitable, climate-friendly policies in a low-carbon future, the University of Ottawa and the Jarislowsky Foundation have joined forces to endow a $4-million Chair to drive clean innovation and generate solutions for green economic growth.

Access to post-secondary education can and should be the great equalizer for Canada, and nowhere is this more evident than at the University of Ottawa. Students who are the first in their families to attend university make up a significant portion of our graduating classes, and we boast the highest enrolment of aboriginal students among all Ontario universities.

Achieving philanthropic goals with lasting impact is much more than a simple financial transaction. It’s a process, often family-based, which involves a great deal of emotion, reflection and planning.

Suzanne Oleksiuk and her late husband, Dr. Stanley Oleksiuk, met at the University of Ottawa. The scholarship they established through a gift of life insurance is helping medical students graduate in a better financial situation before they go on to help society

“When I was teaching at CHEO, students shared their stories, like the challenges they face in travelling to apply to residencies,” he says. “I feel for the students because it has changed a lot from when I was at school.”

Through her bequest, Jocelyne Bessette wishes to give the young generation the same gift she received from her grandfather, the possibility to freely choose one’s future without being limited by one’s financial means.
