Biography

Isabelle Giroux is a Registered Dietitian, a fellow of Dietitians of Canada and a Professional Home Economist. She is a full professor of nutrition in the School of Nutrition Sciences, in which she served as director from 2021 to 2024 and assistant director, undergraduate studies, from 2015 to 2019. She was also vice-dean academic (student and professional affairs) for the Faculty from 2019 to 2021. Professor Giroux has been actively involved in professional affairs as a dietetic educator (since 2000), national program evaluator (since 2008), member of the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP) of Canada Accreditation Standards Development Working Group (2012鈥2014) and chair of the Regroupement des di茅t茅tistes francophones of Canada (2007鈥2015). She was a member of the PDEP Steering Committee as a dietetic educators鈥 representative from 2015 to 2021 (and co-chair from 2016 to 2018 and in 2020 and 2021). Since 2024, she has also been a member of the steering committee of the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative and the Accreditation Canada EQual health education accreditation program Decision Committee.

Research

As a member of the Institut du Savoir Montfort, Professor Giroux conducts interdisciplinary research on prevention and management of obesity and diabetes among at-risk populations. As co-leader of the (GReFoPS) at the University of Ottawa, she also studies the impact of experiential learning on acquisition of professional skills, including interprofessional collaboration and active offer of health-care services in French. She has published over 65 peer-reviewed articles, as well as three books and seven book chapters.
