Some students shine quietly — not through loud declarations, but through presence, resilience, and the way they make others feel seen. Laurie Rochon, who graduates with an Honours BA in Psychology and a GPA of 9.23, is one of those students. Her journey at the University of Ottawa reflects not only academic dedication but a deep emotional intelligence and a commitment to growing as both a scholar and a human being.

Laurie chose psychology out of a desire to help people — especially those navigating vulnerability, uncertainty, or pain. Her studies gave her the tools to listen more deeply, understand more clearly, and build meaningful connections.

One of the most formative experiences of her degree came through a field research course in Morocco, where she studied unaccompanied minors and migration. That journey opened her eyes to the complex realities behind the numbers — and solidified her resolve to work in service of youth and families in need.
