Dr. Onyema Otitodiri is a Postdoctoral Fellow with Open AIR at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society.
Specializing in International Economic Law and regulatory governance, Dr. Onyema Otitodiri鈥檚 research focuses on the impact of innovation regulation on foreign investment in developing countries, with a particular emphasis on the police powers doctrine. His work critically examines how government regulations, grounded in the police powers principle, either facilitate or constrain innovation and foreign investment. Dr. Otitodiri鈥檚 research also addresses the long-term implications of these regulatory strategies for Africa鈥檚 innovation landscape and global economic positioning.
Prior to joining Open AIR, Dr. Otitodiri鈥檚 research explored the nexus between law, innovation, and economic development. Now, under the supervision of Professors Chidi Oguamanam and Jeremy de Beer, he collaborates with fellow scholars to investigate how knowledge governance regimes can foster fair, innovation-friendly regulatory environments in Africa and beyond.
