Courses and workshops

Students that took part of the 2022 workshop in front of Marion Building

We offer courses one time per year and workshops two times per year for large community at 91精品黑料吃瓜 and outside. Please let us know if there is a need in specific subjects, so that it can be included in our course and workshop schedule. Courses and workshops provide educational activities, training opportunities in proteomics, metabolomics and bioinformatics, and hands-on training opportunities in proteomics.

Upcoming workshops

We are pleased to announce a new workshop on Sample Preparation and Analysis for Mass Spectrometry-Based non-targeted Metabolomics. The workshop will be held at the John L. Holmes Mass Spectrometry Facility (JHMSF), in Marion Hall (MRN) room 02, 140 Louis-Pasteur Private, University of Ottawa on May 20th - 22th, 2025.

This three-day workshop will focus on practical applications in modern bioanalytical techniques, and will cover a variety of topics related to MS-based metabolomics such as: introduction to metabolomics, metabolomics workflows, sample preparation, metabolomics-based technologies and bioinformatics analysis of metabolomics data. Hands-on training will include: sample preparations, nLC-MS/MS sample processing, and metabolite annotation and identification. It will also offer an informal Question & Answer session.

The workshop presents a training opportunity for current and future JHMSF users. It is open to graduate students, postdocs, and other researchers in the areas of medicine, biology, biochemistry and bio-analytical chemistry. The workshop aims to promote state-of-the-art technologies and to facilitate collaborations within the scientific community across Canada.

At the end of Workshop, the participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

The application deadline is May 16th, 2025.

Past workshops

We are pleased to announce a new workshop on Data Analysis for Metabolomics and Proteomics. The workshop will be held online thought Zoom/Teams on August 31th to September 2th, 2022.

This three-day workshop will focus on data visualization and statistical analysis for MS-based proteomics and metabolomics. Data analysis will be performed either by using tools and software on existing web site or using R program. It will also offer an informal Question & Answer session.

The workshop presents a training opportunity for current and future JHMSF users. It is open to graduate students, postdocs, and other researchers in the areas of medicine, biology, biochemistry, food science and bio-analytical chemistry. The participants are offered the opportunity to process their own samples during the workshop The workshop aims to promote omics research and facilitate collaborations within the scientific community across Canada.

At the end of the workshop, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

The application deadline is August 29rd, 2022.
